Looking for winter tires and rims
Any information on Rims and tires for winter?
I looked at Tire Rack USA for rims, nice price, high shipping costs. Prefer to buy tires in Canada, Ontario, rims if possible?
Will keep the 235/60 18 inch size as we have lots of snow.

Re: Looking for winter tires and rims
1010tires has a great tool for selection but the selection is expensive compared to tirerack. I need new summers for next year and plan on either finding a good used set here on the forum or doing the tirerack route.

Re: Looking for winter tires and rims
Hello,
Sorry for the late reply. I have been looking for tires and rims for winter. I did check out a USA site in Ill. In the USA shippping would be $144.49 for four rims made in China plus 135.96 to Ontario. These are for 18 rims.
I would prefer to buy in Canada and did get a quote from Revoloution Tire, rims also made in China at $158.60. The cost is about the same and I don't have to worry about service.
I did check out a tire dealer in Brampton not sure of the name Kraze Cars who have winter packages and look competitive. Even Costco suggested there will be competive pricing on Michelin and Pirelli Scorpion winter tires this fall.
Regards
Mike
As for tires I am waiting until late September for better pricing. I am looking at Nokian Hakkapeliitta R tires and Michelin Latitude X-Ice Xi2 tires. I am waiting to see if a get a better deal on the complete package from the rim dealer or buy the tires elsewhere. Both tires are about the same price however as the season gets closer there may be advantages pricing over each brand? At least in Canada I have warranty protection not sure of how it works buying tires from the USA to save $20 or $30 dollars.
Regards
Mike

Re: Looking for winter tires and rims
Hi, I solved my winter tire & rim deal...found a set of rims and snow tires on Kijiji but they didn't fit, so I visited my local Audi dealer and he explained the the A4 was redesigned in 2009 and the center hub size has changed..that is why the Kijiji tires and rims that were on a 2010 TT disn't fit my 2010 A4..too bad, price was good.
Talking to the parts guy, he had just rec'd some after market rims priced at $185 each and winter tires at $195 for a total of $380 per tire and rim plus taxes...not a big big difference from 1010tires.om...plus as you say they are installed and no hassle plus they use the same bolts..don't have different bolts.
Yes, you still have some time to shop but don't wait too long...check out your Audi dealer for an alternate down size..may be cheaper.
Good luck,
Danluc

Re: Looking for winter tires and rims
Dealer rims and tire package for your car will cost ~$2,400 plus tax. I am also looking for a set for my Q7 and I spoke to the parts guy at Downtown Audi and he said they were just getting ready to start selling winter packages. He said they will likely offer 10% off for early orders. Just to put the price into perspective, these would include the TPMS.

Re: Looking for winter tires and rims
Thanks Strati.
I have saved the last esitmate for the dealer which I will check on later. I know they would prefer to downsize the tire to 17 inch so I have to decide depending of the dif between dealers 17 inch and Michelin tires or the aftermarket 18 rims. My guess on your price quoted is $600 dollars diference and while smaller tires may be better I would prefer 18 rims and the Nokian tires as we live in a deep snow belt area or Michelin as 2nd choice.
I will post my conclusions later however a $600 extra charge is too much.
