08 A4 Rims and bolt patterns
So I just signed on the dotted line for (a seriously discounted due to the 09 coming out shortly) '08 base model A4. And was wondering if any of you could educate me on how high I could go up in rim size without having to switch to the sport suspension?
It'd be nice to get some good summer rims on it but I'd like to go a little bigger than the 16". I know 19 will require the sport suspension, but could I go up to 18 or stick to 17"? Just shopping for now.. its a lease so I don't plan on making any serious mods to the car.

You don't "need" to change your suspension regardless the size of the wheel. That said, the larger the rim, the thinner the tire, and the larger the wheel gap looks even though it really hasn't changed if you upsized correctly.
17" wheels paired with 235/45 tire is common, as is 18" with 235/40, and 19" with 235/35. Some people put on 20" with 235/30, but that's really too large a wheel, in my opinion, especially if you're upsizing for looks: 20" wheels with tiny brake rotors look odd.
The bolt pattern is 5x112.
