S4 in Saskatchewan
Hey all,
I was wondering if any of you know anything about the following car:
AUDI S4 in Regina, SK - Vehicle Details - AutoTrader
At first glance it looks pretty good...really low KM's and perhaps not an outrageous price once negotiations are done .
I'm in Calgary but I'd consider going out to look at it. If anybody knows anything about it (good or bad!) I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Cheers,
Mike

Regina_TTS and myself have both driven the car, it has been there for a while but I didn't look to deep into purchasing it so I don't know the whole history of the vehicle. But it was a great car to drive.

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
Thanks for the response DrTofu!
I think I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they have the history on it. I'm kinda thinking that with only 18'ish thousand K's on it, it has either been "ridden hard and put away wet" or it should be in really good shape service wise.
I read your thread and part of me agrees with the Blue on Silver being a bit 'meh' but if it's in really good shape I could probably live with the interior.
Anyway thanks again...I appreciate it!
Cheers,
Mike

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
That particular Sprint Blue S4 Avant was an Audi PR car that was put on display at a few events before it was retired and returned to Audi to be dealer auctioned. Taylor Audi picked it up with the low mileage thinking that a rarer manual S4 Avant would be an attractive buy, but the colour has been a hard sell. I was actually quite torn between it and a red used one they also had in stock, but opted for the red.
If you are going to call them, ask for Sir (yes, Sir) or Miguel. Their Audi Brand Specialist is a good guy, but he is quite new and likely isn't as familiar with the car or it's history. Also, a buddy of mine from Edmonton recently offered them $40K for it and they didn't take it.

Regina_TTS,
That's great info...thank you very much!
I'm assuming that if you actually considered it, there were no "red flags" so to speak regarding its condition or service history? Do you know if it would be sold as a CPO unit?
Thanks again for the info!
Cheers,
Mike

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
If there hadn't been two colour choices, I would have bought the blue S4. It was actually a very difficult choice to make, both being great colours on the S4 Avant.
The car was being sold as a CPO unit at the time that I was buying and I can't see how that would have changed. The Auto Trader ad even reads "2 YEAR 40,000KMS WARRANTY. SEE DEALER FOR DETAILS" at the bottom. (The standard additional warranty for CPO.) Being that it is a 2007 car, it was likely first registered in late 2006. That would mean the original 4 year/80K km factory warranty has either run out or is about to run out, making CPO warranty even more attractive.

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
Thanks again...that's good to hear!
I was assuming the notation about the 2 year/40,000KM warranty meant CPO but thought I'd ask.
Given what I've learned about the B6/B7 S4's here and on AudiZine I'm pretty convinced I want a car with some additional coverage in the (somewhat) unlikely event that there is a catastrophic engine issue.
I'm also looking at a really nice '07 6-spd Avant here in Calgary, but it's at a BMW dealership and therefore isn't a CPO unit and 3rd party warranties are rediculously expensive (at least through an Audi dealer)...was quoted $5,800 for CPO-equivalent coverage .
I'm definitely going to call them tomorrow so thank you once again for the background info on this car!
Cheers,
Mike

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
The B7 S4 Avant (manual) is one of my favourite cars besides being somewhat rare. A member of our local group has one (check out photos on Golden Horseshoe thread) and it looks great. On the other hand if you are looking for a deal on an amazing car her is one for you to consider that another local member posted.

Re: S4 in Saskatchewan
Mikeh,
Thanks for that...I had actually seen that car advertised.
Unfortunately it has 90,000 Km + and I'm looking for as low Km as I can find. It also sounds like it might have led a hard life so far!
I'm really looking for Avants because I'm replacing my '02 BMW 325iT wagon which I've found to be really, really useful with us having 2 kids and their associated stuff!
I suppose that if I can't find the right Avant I might settle for an Audi 3.2 Avant or even a 2.0T but I REALLY want an S4! Finding a performance-oriented wagon is really difficult...about the only other option I can think of is a BMW 5-series wagon and they are at least as rare as S4 Avants .
Thanks for everyone's help!
Cheers,
Mike
