New to the forum, need your input
Hello all
I own a 2004 A4 Q 1.8T. It was hit in a hit and run, causing 11.000 worth of damge. Its not a write off, aparantly, but I would like to get a second opinion on the car by a Audi professional, to make sure Im not going to get screwed down the line.
Can any one recommend a excellent Audi tech who can take a look and put a value on the damage? Im located in Calgary.
Second, the car is at SOS body shop, are they good guys, can anyone here vouch for them? I have spoken with Hans on the phone a few times now, seems a like a nice guy, but your input is still highly apreciated.
Thanks all!

I do!
I certainly wasnt pleased when I came out to my car that morning. What I was initially worried about was frame damage, but I'm told that it is only a side plate which was bent, which can be removed and replaced.
Im going to go visit SOS to see the damage after it has been taken apart. But an opinion from a more experienced individual would be nice, to make sure all angles are covered.

Insurance will pay for everything, but my issue is that the value of the car will drop tremendously, and the car will never quite be the same again.
I really apreciate your help.
Merry Christmas

Just thought I'd post an update. 1move was kind enough to meet me at SOS paint and body shop and took a look at the car with me and the owner of said shop. Huge thanks again!!!
Once the car has been fixed I'll post and let you all know how the service is there, and if it can be recommended in the future. So far, however, I am very impressed and very pleased with SOS. The owner is very helpful. But the finished product will tell all.

I had a rear end last year. When I took my car to the body shop the insurance company recommended, they said it wasn't a write off and it was repairable.
Good thing to know is that you actually don't have to go where the insurance company tells you too. The preferred list of shops is because they get discount rates from these places so there's a conflict of interest there since a shop would like to do anything it can to stay on this list and that includes cutting corners.
I ended up going to Modern Auto Body and they quoted about $10K more. They were only 1 of 3 shops in Alberta that could actually bring it back to original condition. The first place would've just done a patch job and I wouldn't have known any better. Of course, my insurance company put up a fight but in the end they wrote off my car because it was too expensive to fix if I took it to Modern Auto Body.

Good point. In this case I picked the body shop based on Glenmore Audi's recommendations. Although the shop was also recommended by the apraiser. Ill post some pictures once I get the car back.
