Thumbs up Das Auto Haus in Red Deer, AB - Great shop!

Hey everyone,

As a first time Audi owner, I was planning to use the dealership for as many services as were necessary, including scheduled maintenances. That was until I was referred to Das Auto Haus in Red Deer, a short 144km drive down Hwy 2.

My 55K Km service was due on my FWD CVT B7, and the dealership quoted me ~$1150+ for the service. This entailed spark plugs, oil change, air filter change, cabin filter change, CVT tranny fluid change, and then basic checks on brakes, fluids, etc etc. One thing that really bothered me, was that the dealership would not give me an accurate quote. The simply said that "it would be around $1150" but wouldn't give me anything more. I phoned Eurasia here in Edmonton, and the guy there got back to me with a quote of $855.44 Inc taxes. I then contacted Chris at Das Auto, and he quoted me under $600 for the service.

I had the service performed yesterday, and could not be happier with the service and professionalism he displayed. When we were all through, he made mention that the next time I need the CVT fluid change done, it will actually be $100 more, as he had forgotten how long that service actually takes, but that since he had quoted me a specific price, he would stand by his word and only charge me that.

On top of that, he also mentioned that my timing belt is squeaking pretty badly already at 55K Km, that it should be covered under Audi warranty, and that I should get this checked out by the dealership before I am off warranty. Planning to deal with that next week.

So all in all, it was a 100% positive experience dealing with Chris at Das Auto Haus, and if you are anywhere between Calgary and Edmonton, I highly recommend his shop.

Thanks for reading guys.

Ok first off I don't work for him and he didn't pay me to say this

Chris at Das Autohaus is an Audi and VAG Guru.

He is one of a rare breed that lives and breathes the brand he services.

He is also honest which again seems to be rare these days.

I live in Edmonton and would gladly make the trip to see him for any Audi/VAG vehicles.

My work in progress.

2001 Audi TT 225

Frankenturbo F23

3" 42 Draft Design Turbo back exhaust

Neuspeed intake and pchip(soon to be replaced with something new and exciting)

Assorted bits that need to replaced damn Haldex system!

I also covet a coil over suspension .

Chris has done and will doing all of my repairs/upgrades.

In an industry where I have experienced much incompetence and blatant deception he is a breath of fresh air.

Chris is an awesome guy! His lime green TT was in Eurotuner last year. Although he keeps saying that he will not work on the S4 B5's .

Spencer, actually. Lives up here in Edmonton. Referred me to Chris after I picked up my Audi in February.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who is willing to drive down from Edmonton to let him work on my ride. I just hadn't been able to find much in the way of reviews of his shop, and wanted to share my experience.

Thanks for the info Chris!.....I reside in Red Deer and I'm in the process of stepping up to a german sedan......either a mid 2000's Audi S4,or a E39 M5 or E46M3,but looking hard at S4.
And it's nice to know a mechanic who is competent and honest.....
