CPO 2014 S4 Dealer Prep Issues
We recently purchased a beautiful CPO Estoril Blue S4 from a dealer in the lower mainland. We bought the car and drove it home to Salmon Arm. The morning after I got it home, I noticed a fair amount of brake dust on the wheels, pretty normal I thought until I tried to remove it. There was a layer of something on 2 of the wheels that the brake dust had become embedded in, and the only thing I could get it off with was Wurth WD-Sol. Removing the gunge revealed that the original finish had been removed previously.
I reported this to the dealer, supplying video and pictures. They originally said that it was just tire shine and that I had removed the finish cleaning the wheels. After some back and forth, they admitted the wheels were touched up before we took delivery, and that the coat that was air-brushed on was what I was removing.
I'm not pleased that the repair wasn't disclosed, I asked for a copy of the CPO inspection report, it wasn't provided. In addition, after a hand wash, buffer marks are evident on the roof, trunk and passenger side doors. A complicating factor is the distance between us and the dealer. Returning there for them to attend to this is going to involve an overnight trip to Vancouver.
I think they will offer to have the wheels re-finished properly, but I'm concerned with matching colour with the other 2 wheels, and that would put the car out of commission while the wheels were sent off to Vancouver. I think they should ship me a pair of wheels that I can have swapped out locally. I also think they should cover the cost of having the paint corrected properly.
What would you do?
