Seat belt warning indicator

Seat belt warning indicator
A few days ago while driving to work with my wife, I noticed she removed her seat belt to take something in the back seat and noticed that the seat belt warning indicator didn't light up?
I tried removing my seat belt and the warning light came on right away..
Can someone please try removing passenger seat belt and let me know what happens?
Thanks greatly appreciated!

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Seatbelt warning is linked with seat occupancy sensor - it will not go on if there is no one on seat. The same sensor, I believe, is used by airbags to prevent launching one if there is no need (no passenger on seat). So it definitely should lite up (does in my Q)! If not it means that either sensor of seat occupancy or sensor of seatbelt fastening is out of order. The second one is minor issue, just no warning signal/light. The first one might be major problem in case of accident. I'd definitely check this with service!

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Tested this yesterday on my 2011 Q5. My wife undid her belt in the front passenger seat and there was no light or chime to indicate it was disconnected. This was at ~40km/h in city driving. We have also done this at speed on the highway when she was kneeling backwards on the seat, foraging in the back for something and there was also no indication.

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Being that the sensor is connected to the airbag this really concerns me. No safety issue should be over looked, I'll definately have to take my car into service and have it checked out.

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Went to Audi dealer this week and they confirmed that all Audi Q5 do not have a seat belt warning indicator for the front passenger.
Why then is it that some who replied to this trend did get the seat belt warning ?

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Mine definitely has this sensor. My wife is driving A4 and also has it. I think I've seen on internet some info how to disable it via VAGCOM, so could be it is just NA spec...

Re: Seat belt warning indicator
Ah, one more thing! I did not measured it, but this is working above certain speed only. So if the car is rolling on the parking the alarm will not go on. If you accelerate to above ~30km/h (I think) it goes on imediately.
