Default SD card format for music transfer?

SD card will work if you have the slots.
Just plug it in, go to import>select SD card
Personally found the SD card transfer to be better than the other ones.
Mainly because you don't need any cords or so on.
But if you have USB cords then plug it to the slot in the glovebox then it should work.
Also, you cannot transfer music from your iPod to MMI cuz of the iPod doesn't support it, but you can still hook it up and listen to it.
You can also burn a DATA DVD and transfer it.

iTunes purchased music has copy protection, so I am not surprised. I am interested to know if it will play the iTunes Plus ones though, because they do not have copy protection.

If you ask your PC to treat your iPod/iPhone like an external drive (i.e. let them "talk" directly, rather than via an Apple app on the PC), are you able to transfer data (i.e. music) directly to the PC then transfer that PC data to an SD card? Of course if this method is successful, which I'm sure it is, please respect copyright laws etc.....
Have fun!

I've actually dug into the file system of the iPod, and they do really weird things inside it. I once tried to replicate this on a USB key to try to "fool" the deck to think it's an iPod shuffle, but no dice.

Worth a shot, I will try it out next week when I get the car. I just don't know how to fool the SD card unit to think it's an iPod.

Perhaps I have the older (2nd generation) iPod so there's less security measures on the device. The iPod, via USB cable is recognized as an F: drive. With that, I have transferred files from the iPod onto a desktop folder (point, drag, drop). That data from the newly created desktop folder is then transferred (point, drag, drop) onto the SD card. The SD card is then uploaded onto the Q5 MMI. The SD card that I use is a basic SanDisk brand. Keep in mind that only Artist, album, genre, and track (title) information is maintained on the MMI (i.e. no playlists)

Convert the itunes tracks to mp3 and put it on the SD, I do it and works fine. You can convert within iTunes.

Don't you loose sound quality when you convert? I'm not the greatest when it comes to iTunes...

Thanks!!!

You end up with 128 bit which is CD quality.
