Q5 Port of Entry? Montreal Port Dispute?
Hey Guys,
I have a 2011 Q5 on order for delivery to Vancouver, scheduled to arrive in August. Does anybody know if the Q5's arrive into the port of Montreal, which would now be affected by the labour dispute that's going on there right now? I'd hate it if the delivery was delayed because of the labour disruption in Montreal.
Does the vehicle get delivered into Montreal, or is it another port? Heard on the news that the majority of freight coming in from Europe lands in Montreal.
Does anybody know for sure where the Q5's land in Canada? Mine was supposed to be arriving in Canada this week.
Thanks!

Almost all of Audi cars are delivered to the port of Halifax. I have a friend who transport Audi's on a truck from Halifax across Canada.
You should be alright.

Your salesperson should be able to tell you which port it docks at and the arrival date. They might even know which ship it’s on. If not, you can look up the Arrivals section of the port (Google search) to see which ships are expected to arrive at that port on that date. Once you have that info, you can track the ship.
This is how I tracked my '11 Q7. SA at the dealer did not know which ship it was on, only the date and port it docked at - Halifax, NS on July 19th.
First I checked the Port of Halifax website for arrivals and departures (Daily Status Report | The Port of Halifax). It tells you which ships are scheduled to dock in the next few days. The only RORO style ship that docked at the Halifax AutoPort on July 19th was a “Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines” ship called “BOHEME”.
I checked the WWL site (http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp) for the Boheme and found it originated from Bremerhaven and left on July 9th, which was consistent with the date the SA also gave me.
I then tracked the ship on Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions however, the site is somewhat limited because if the ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, its AIS signal can’t be detected and so it’s exact location can’t be determined. But once the ship gets close to Canadian Waters, you can track it until it docks.
Now if there was only a way to track it on land.....hmmm.
Sounds a bit extreme but I'm a first time Audi owner and never had to wait for any car that I've ever bought in the past. I ordered it back in May and should have it by the 1st week of August. The wait has been killing me but at least I know where my car is, somewhat!
