Toronto you say? Hmmm. Wouldn't Mississauga qualify as Toronto/GTA? I'm less than two KM from Toronto. .
When I had XM NavTraffic the flow and incident reports literally stopped at the Toronto border. I received no information for any of the 400 series highways or roads outside of Toronto and the flow information stopped where the Gardiner becomes the QEW.

John,

Thanks for the info. You would think that if a service were to be discontinued, a notice would be given, yet no notice from Sirius that my service would be stopped.

Just curious... Since I paid for a one year subscription based on the services I was receiving at the time of renewal (Sirius Radio & Traffic), would I be entitled to a partial refund since half my services are no longer available yet paid in full until Sept. 2012?

Honestly, who knows. It depends on what their policy is. They may say "too bad", they may give you a pro-rated refund, or they may offer you a few additional months free service if you sign back up for a year. I would ask them an see what they say.

FYI. I used to get Toronto area traffic signal (tmc) with sirius's free trial. There was no traffic signal this time. I.e. looks like Sirius (unfortunately) fixed the glitch that let a traffic signal piggyback their radio signal.

Well, as of next year with Google maps in every Audi all of this will go away.

sure -- if you want to spend money upgrading your vehicle... dont think it does anything for the poor souls who bought into the old system...

Yours truly is in the poor category as well. There has to be a way to update the software of the MMI3 to Google.

Nope, the frequencies that Audi is usuing for the data connection is only supported by European cell phone carriers and Verizon in the US.

Wind Mobile, Mobilicity, and Chattr in Canada use the same frequencies but they're not nation wide so as soon as you go outside their coverage area (downtown of major cities only) you would lose the data connection.

Don't forget that you also need the hardware to support it. All cars with Google Maps have a SIM card slot, antenna, and receiver for the data connection.

Thought I'd jump in on this one. I have two issues: I was getting the Sirius traffic information for about 18 months, but no more, and NAVTEQ is apparently no longer supplying map updates for the system built into my 2010 S4.

Here's the email I got from Audi today:

Thank you for your correspondence. Based on the nature of your concern, your e-mail has been forwarded to me for my personal attention

I'm not very impressed that Audi is trying to wash its hands of this. I bought a car that was equipped with a navigation system that could be updated regularly, and that had integrated traffic information, and now I have a system that is less useful than my 5-year-old Garmin portable unit. I'm thinking class action: this is simply not the product that was advertised and sold.
