Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
Hi Folks:
Your new Q5 with Navi will come with 3 months of free Satellite radio offered by by Sirius. You will also get free traffic service (by pressing the "info" button on console). One thing to note is the traffic service is ONLY offered to Toronto and GTA. Your free traffic will expire in about 40 days.
I went through all this, this is good experience check this out:
When my traffic expired I called Sirius Canada wanted to subscribe to traffic service. They said Sirius Canada doesn't offer traffic only in the US. I called Audi, Audi (downtown Toronto) said that their traffic service is offred by Navtaq (spelling). I called Navtaq and they said they don't deal directly with customers rather only with XM or Sirius.
In Canada, XM and Sirius or 2 different companies in the US they're one.
So this is what you do only if you're Toronto and GTA:
- Wait for your 3 month free satellite radio to be over.
- IF and only IF you want traffic service, call SIRIUS USA (not SIRIUS Canada)
- Give them your radio ID for data and audio (2 different IDs)
- Subscribe to a radio package AND their Traffic package.
- They will bill you in the USD.
- Turn on your car and enjoy your traffic and radio service. Works like a charm, perfect reception and very accurate traffic. I've been using it for a month and love it.
Unfortunately Navtaq only offers to Toronto (in Canada) perhaps more cities will be offered in the future.
They don't care that you have a Canadian car. All it is, is a satellite signal from 3 XM/Sirius satellites over North America.
Good luck.

That's right. Per month. If you don't want traffic and just want radio, you can get the Canadian superscription which comes to just over 14 a month with tax. Reception is same eitehr way since it's satellite anyways.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
Both traffic and radio are working FLAWLESSLY. You will love it. You will for sure have full QUE updates all the way into Ontario and Toronto and of course all the interstates and major cities in the US. I highly recommend it.
One thing to note though I give them my cousin's US address. They never asked for it but I did it to be safe so they may or may not need a US address but it was easy and quick.
Let m eknow if you have any other questions.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
Yeah exactly - I was with XM for about 4 years (2 days after they came to Canada). Identical. In the US XM and Sirius is the same so the channel line up and everything is exactly the same except different channel number of course. Billing so far so good I am on a 3 month billing cycle no issues at all. And when you turn the car on the satellite connection is MUCH faster than Sirius Canda. I was with them for about 1 month while the free trial was going on.
