Something I never thought to look into... can one close the rear hatch manually by hand or does it "need" to close electronically?

So I tried the hatch thing and it didn't work for me.

Firstly the central lock was "on" in the MMI:

- Car locked, used remote opened hatch, double lock didn't close it.
- Car unlocked, used remote open hatch, double lock didn't close it.
- From inside the car, with car locked, used car button, opened hatch, used remote to close, no luck.
- From inside the car, with car unlocked, used car button, opened hatch, used remote to close, no luck.

I did ALL the above with central lock "off" from the MMI no luck.

My car is a 2010, Aug 2009 built. Premium, with Navi, Tech and B&O. I have no clue why it's not working.

I found the below URL to another forum. I haven't a clue how yours is closing with the remote, this is not default out of factory:

Rear hatch close with remote? - AudiWorld Forums

I am thinking of getting the Vag-Com cable and software and to some minor tweaking but I really don't want mock around with these things too much.

What didn't you understand in all of the links and information I posted in this thread? This is a module you have to buy and install from a company called Kufatec.

Easy there friend, why such condescending reply? It's not that I didn't "understand". The thread didn't start off talking about the module. It wasn't until the 6th or 7th point where the module was mentioned. I didn't pay attention to the title of the tread either, I saw your video (which didn't talk about the module, then I logged in and replied without reading everything in between (where the model was mention). The tread was moved to a seond page by-passing the talk about the module so it's pretty easy to miss.

Thanks anyways.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Even though they have the same part number, use the same plastic "box" and harness, each unit has different software coding for the different model cars.

Have a look in the "Notes" on the german Kufatec site. The module for the Q5 reads:
Notes:

* This module can only be used for car's that are equipped with an electric trunk.
* Suitable for the Audi Q5 from interface Software-Index 1.48

The Q5 uses HW v2.2 / SW v1.48 and is the only model they list specific software for. I was sent the first one in June (in the picture below.) It was HW v2.2 / SW v1.44 and it DID NOT WORK. I received a replacement in September that was SW v1.47 and it also did not work. It finally worked when I plugged in the third one that I received two days ago with SW v1.48.

It would seem that Kufatec USA isn't stocking the part for the Q5. When I first ordered it they had to add it to their site. I'm guessing I was a bit of a PITA and they wanted to get the issues with mine worked out before selling any more? I have emailed them to let them know that this version finally works. I'm sure if you contact them they will order you one. One a side note, Kufatec USA is at the same address as OEMPLUS.com. If you've ever ordered from them before, they are super easy to deal with.

I notice Kufatec USA now has the correct module on their website, however it is currently on backorder as I have had an order with them for this module for 4 weeks now.

@ xlex02
I'm not sure yet as I haven't received my module, and I don't know if it includes instructions or not. But according to Tony (Regina_TTS) its easy to wire in:

Got the module and installed it today, works great. It comes with instructions, just hook up a few wires and your in business!

FYI heres the same install procedure as shown on a Q7:
