Still anxiously awaiting my new Q5. I've never, ever used SIRIUS before but I am wondering if a free subscription/trial comes with the Q5?

I thought most new cars came with a free trial, but I don't know if that's from the car/dealer or from sirius directly for all new accounts?

From what I understand you will only get a 90-day trial subscription for Sirius. I have had Sirius for years, its great, you will most likely sign up after the trial period is over.

Hmm what do you listen to the most on it?

I generally listen to pop radio these days. I used to listen exclusively to my own music on phone..

HD radio basically doesn't exist in Canada it seems...

 

I listen to a wide variety of things... Lithium (90's rock/alternative), Hip Hop Nation, Howard Stern, there is lots to choose from.

 

Perhaps it is best to ask your dealer where you bought the car

 

You get a 90 day free trial with any new vehicle that has it equipped, doesn't matter what manufacturer... and then you also get harassed non-stop by 3rd party companies trying to do surveys for them. I finally lost it when they kept phoning me at work and told them to f#ck right off.

As for the sat radio personally I find it not that great for a number of reasons;
First, one of the big appeals of it for me was you pay for radio so you can listen to it without being bothered by advertising, only all of the main channels all run tons of advertising anyway.
Second, is whenever you go into a parkade, garage, tunnel, etc.... it cuts out.
Third is despite the wide variety of channels, most people only like a few and the content on those channels is pretty narrow. I get bored with it pretty quick and end up switching to local radio or my SD card.

I had a subscription to XM for about 6 months on my old car before I finally just got rid of it as I never use it.

Just my 0.02, I know some people that love it as well

 

You will get a 90-day free trial on your new Q5 . I've never renewed the subscription after the free trial as I don't think it's really necessary. In some areas you won't even be able to get reception, like underground and sometimes even some open areas.
