Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
Anyone manage to negotiate the 5-6% discounts the folks in the US are seeing?

Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
The $US is worth $1.24 CDN today, it was $1.34 CDN when I ordered in April. Thats a 7.5% reduction in the exchange rate right there. Maybe it'll be 10% by the time I get the car! I'm not sure how Audi factors in international currency exchange rates in their prices but it must be a huge issue, thats their profit margin right there, and it could go either way. Who knew the universal currency of the $US dollar would Celine so much against Canuck Bucks in such a short period? Based on that our US friends should be paying more for their vehicles and we should pay less. But as I say, it works both ways and our economy is surprisingly strong given the beating our energy industry is taking.

Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
Audiguz - do you have the car now? Can you confirm it took 19 days (roughly) from the shipping date until you were able to pick up at dealer?
Others- on exchange rates, I have been looking at car, price differences between the US and CA. One of the reasons I bought the Q5 is that Audi appears to be setting prices at about a 7% difference between the two countries. All other car companies are in the 15-17% range. This compares to actual exchange rates of 25-35%. So Audi is cheaper in CA. Also not that car companies can forward hedge currencies to protect revenue or factor in where their costs come from. For example, if they buy parts from a US or CA supplier then this partially offsets currency fluxuations. |
Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
The Q5 finished production on July 7 and it arrived at the dealership (Windsor ON) on July 26; I am not sure on the exact date it was shipped.
We received Audi Care for free from Audi Canada due to the delay in production and delivery. We are picking the Q5 up this friday as we live 3 hrs away from Windsor and were unable to get there this past weekend. Pretty excited! Any thoughts on Audi After Care from anyone? We are purchasing the Q5 and plan to keep it for ~8 years. |

We are purchasing the Q5 and plan to keep it for ~8 years. Seems like the quality hold issue has been solved given how fast your Q5 has come. My production date was July 22 so i should be a couple of weeks behind you. I get confused by all the different services offered. If this is the one that protects the car against scratches etc, i think it is double coverage and not worth it (personal opinion). Some of what is offered is provided by your car insurance already. I did buy the Audi maintenance for 5 years (4 years after the 1st year free service). This was a reasonable value i thought. I also bought the shark skin protection as i live in the country side and there are a lot of bug splats that can be hard to remove. Audi also offers extended warranty but you can buy this later as well (before lapse of your current warranty) from what i was told. The typical fear pressure was put on me in the sales process to buy all the extra stuff. My response was i prefer a car that doesn't have problems and if i get a large cost during the first 8 years then i simply won't buy an Audi again. Hope this helps. |

Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
I have the same problem of delivery.
2018 Q5 Progressiv with Led lights ordered March 15, 2017, built June 2, 2017 and then delayed delivery twice (beginning of July, end of July and we are presently at the end of August). Very long delays. Who had Audi Canada compensation for these delivery times? I read that some have had Audi Care for free? Something else ? Difficulty to negotiate any compensation? |
Re: Did anyone order the 2018 Q5
Sounds like your car may have had the quality control hold, which I assume mine did not (built July 7 delivered July 26).
I got free Audi Care. The sales manager negotiated on my behalf. With the size of your delay I would push for more. |
