Considering purchase - a few questions...
Wow, great to see the traffic on this forum. I haven't been here for a while!
I am considering a Q5 for my wife this time around, and have a couple of questions if anyone can spare the time:
1. I currently have an 2008 A3 with the 2.0T engine. Love the car, but it burns oil at an alarming rate (I'm told it's normal, but its about every 5000km's at this point). Not normal in my opinion, but not a big concern since its leased - I just keep going back for more oil. I know the the 2.0 is new in the Q5, but does anybody know if this is an issue? I had the similar 1.8T in a 2001 A4 sedan and in a 2004 A4 Avant, but didn't have the same issue.
2. I did a search for known issues, but it doesn't appear that there are many of consequence. Small problems don't bother me much (this would be my 4th Audi, so I know to expect some gremlins - no big deal).
3. I know availability is an issue. Her current lease (M-B 200) is up in early April. How much time do I need from placing an order to delivery? Seems like its a few months.
Thanks.

Re: Considering purchase - a few questions...
1) The oil issue is known and common, it got addressed with the 2011 8 speed 2.0t engine. I know many folks with the old 2.0t engine with this problem.
2) Q5 has a few very minor issues with they have all been addressed for 2011. Nothing new so far.
3) 3-4 months for delivery, sign for end of Jan you'll be okay but this can change.

2. Mostly minor issues, nothing really major here. Of course, sometimes you out of luck and it may give you more problems than normally, but we don't have any influence over it.
3. Mine is to be delivered around 20 Nov, that would make 3.5m waiting time for me. Lately I stopped by at local dealer and have been told that now its 6m waiting time for Q5. Now, I think that is a little bit exaggeration, but don't expect 3m. More like 4+
