Audi Q5 reliability and maintenance cost
Q5 reliability and maintenance cost
Hi all I am a very new member here in the forum. I would like to seek the wisdom and experience of members here regarding Q5 reliability and maintenance cost. I am considering purchasing a Q5 2014 model. I have always been a Toyota person. I currently have a 1999 Toyota Sienna and a Lexus 2010 RX350. I really like to buy the 2014 Q5 fully loaded but I have been talking to friends who have brought VW. They all tell me the headache they have with their VW in terms of repairs and maintenance. I understand they are sister company Audi and VW. I must add I have no problem with my Lexus and Toyota. I don’t know anyone who has brought a Q5 Audi hence my registration here to seek some answer to help me decide?
Appreciate any assistance here.

Re: Audi Q5 reliability and maintenance cost
If you want ultimate reliability, go Honda... Toyota has been going downhill pretty steadily when it comes to reliability over the years.
For the Q5 specifically: Consumer Reports gave it a 77/100, with a "recommended buy" which is pretty decent.
For the closest competitors in the mid size luxury SUV category the predicated reliability from Consumer Reports was like this:
Infinity EX: Above Average
Audi Allroad 2.0: Above Average
----------------------------------
Audi Q5: Average
Mercedes GLK350: Average
Acura RDX: Average
Volvo XC60: Average
------------------------------------
Cadillac SRX: Below Average
BMW X3: No rating yet
BMW X1: No rating yet
Really from everything I have read and heard, Q5 is not too expensive to maintain and pretty reliable overall. Seems the 2.0T is practically bullet proof too.
