Oxygen sensor (or lambda sensor) is not the same as Nitrogen oxide sensor or NOX sensor
Knock sensor works like a microphone listening for detonation (knocking). As the name implies, it senses knocks in the engine.............
Totally different sensors with different functions: Oxygen sensor, NOX sensor, Knock sensor

As everyone suggested (and I suspected) it is a NOx sensor and not a knock sensor. In for replacement today and hopefully I get it back tonight.
They gave me an A4 with the 2.0T as a loaner... not a fan after getting used to the Q5 TDI.
