2 basic/sill questions for my new 2011 Q5 (bluetooth and TPMS)
Just picked up my new 2011 Q5 and been going through the manual and searching the web to answer 2 questions, any help would be appreciated.
1. TPMS, according to tirerack the new 2011 Q5 does not need a TPS as the system is passive. So all I need to do is reset the TPMS when installing aftermarket winter tires. Is this correct?
2. Bluetooth phone. My wife and I both use the car and both our phones are paired. Can the car automatically pair any phone or does it just automatically pair the last connected phone. The manual states got to set up, bluetooth, and then set discovery mode to on or auto. When I go to set-up and bluetooth, I do not get a discovery mode option.
Thanks in advance. Love the car, so much more techology than our 2004 A4.

Hi JonSS,
I can answer your first question. Yes, after you install aftermarket wheels, it's best to check the tire pressure after the car was stationary for some time and then re-set the TPMS. I got my winter tires installed, but after a few days of driving, the pressure has normalized/changed and I got a warning on the dashboard. I checked the pressure and one of the wheels was ~30 psi while the other was ~40 psi. I adjusted the pressure and reset TPMS. Now everything seems fine.
Hope this helps.

1) Jupi's answer is correct - on 2010 models TMPS is the same as the 2011.
2) Put the phones in discovery mode and have the car find the phones instead of the phones finding the car. The car will automatically pair with whatever phone it has in it's pair list as long as BT is turned on, on the phone.

Agree with everyone's answers for #1.
For the BT just to add, if you AND your wife pair up your phones, and you are both in the car with the BT on your phones turned on, it will pair up with whichever phone is at the top of the list, and the other phones will not connect via BT.
So as an example, with our Q5 both the wife and I have the Bluetooth discovered, but since i am the primary driver, my phone automatically pairs up. If she happens to be driving, i will turn off my Bluetooth and answer the phone manually.
I believe up to 4 phones can be connected.
