I was thinking about this on a long drive this morning, it sure would be nice to have something that looks like a typical dash-mounted GPS unit that plugs into the ODBII port and shows you all the real time data from the engine that you cant get from the gauges and those with digital accuracy -plus individual sensor readings, intake vacuum/pressure, fuel flow ( from injector timing) O2 sensor output, etc, maybe even estimated BHP and an option for few add-on sensors like torque, charge air temperature, head temperature, EGT, etc.. There are similar monitors for small propeller aircraft engines but I've never seen this in a car.

There is a logging package called ECUx using a laptop that can log faster and query more sensors simultaneously that VAG-COM, it's a highly recommended logger. I'm trying to find where to purchase it as I write this... offhand anyone know?

Here is another option but not sure if your car is supported...

Race Diagnostics Ltd - Products

They don't have anything for the B5 S4 yet but I've spoken with the owner and they are working on supporting more Audi's all the time so check back.

That's getting closer, cool little unit, too bad the screen is so small though. There's no way i could read a display with more than one item on it at a glance while driving. i was thinking of something more like a 3-1/2" to 7" screen, but I'd rather not go to the expense and trouble of installing a whole custom mobile PC in the car, and using a laptop loose or with any kind of mounting system doesn't appeal to me. I like the idea of something integrated that looks like it's original equipment, but easy to install, so i'm thinking a wide (16x9) 6-8" touch screen cleanly mounted to the dash just above the center air vents is probably the best compromise.

Would be awesome to see this info displayed on an in-dash Nav unit.

Not sure if anyone has tried writing software for this?!?

Here was a good Audi NAV install on a B5 S4 for reference
