Need Some Help With My 1st Audi 100 CS
Hello, I just bought a very nice 1992 Audi! It has around 100K. The car was sitting fro about 2 years before i bought it. The car runs, drives, shifts great! BUT the problems begin. I noticed that when i first started the car there was water coming out above the gas pedal.Well turns out the heater hoses were disconnect. The car is also missing the Vacuum pump that mounts to the side of the heater box. I have that part on order! The car however has the following problems that i would like to trouble shoot and fix. The front and rear parking light stay on all the time! key in key out! Car running Car Off. I have to pull the battery cable! Lol.. The interior dash lights and floor lights are also on. I also noticed that the digital part in the center of the cluster is looking kinda weird! The first time i started it i see it said i need oil! well i checked and all was good. It was beeping! It changed the battery and the beeping and oil warning went away! now there is just lines in the digial part! What could be causing these problems? If you need more information please ask!
The car is a 1992 100 CS Quattro! Has All features possible!

I don't have hands on experience with your car but the lights sound like a relay problem....either the courtesy relay that keeps the lights on and power to the windows until you open the door or a bad door switch and wrong bulbs in the park lights or best of all it could be your factory alarm which is tied into a bunch of different relays to honk the horn and flash the lights etc.
Get yourself a bentley and go thru these gremlins 1 at a time and quite often when you fix 1 a couple others will be fixed as well.
Good luck

Re: Need Some Help With My 1st Audi 100 CS
Hello, Though i would update everyone. I have been working on the car for a while now. I have most of the problems ironed out. Some of the problems have been fixed. but now i have found some new ones. The High beams in the car don't work but the low beams do. When you click on the high beams the lights go out and the parking lights stay on. The lights work correctly other than that. The Diff. switch does not do anything. It lights up orange and does nothing. I changed all the pads and rotors all the way around. Before and after i have a really strange squeak from the rear drivers side. The car makes this noise running or not. Moving or not. Not sure what it is. I also am having some problems with the crappy Bose system. lol.. The only speaker that works is the front passenger door. All others don't produce any sound. When i got the car the rear speakers were disconnected! I want to change the radio anyways. Do i need to run new wire to all stock locations to bypass the amps? I think the amps might be bad as there is no sound coming from the speakers now. I bought the 100 dollar service manual for the car off crapbay. lol. so if anywon needs any diagrams or anything i would be more than happy to help out. Is there a way i can post pictures of the car on my profile so you guys can see it?

Thanks for the reply! I fixed the problem. There was another headlight switch on the column that i didn't see. I know it sounds stupid but strange things happen sometimes! Electric problems are by far the worst. I don't have the money for a Bentley yet that's why i got an audi to replace the lumina. They are nice though!

Hi Eric,
Glad you got some of your gremlins beat down.
The bose system sounds GREAT.....when everything is working but after 10yrs or so things start going wrong.
If your going to replace it then I recomend running all new wire and remove any of the amps still in place....you can still use the Bose speakers if they arent dead but bypass the little independant amps as they have been known to start fires.
As for your headlights......has there been an HID kit installed??
Sometimes the kits only have low beams and abandon the high beams 'cause the cool blue light guys have to go home when the streetlights come on
Glad you got some of your gremlins beat down.

Re: Need Some Help With My 1st Audi 100 CS
I got lucky with my '90, the speakers were still in great shape... I'm giving 'em a bit of a workout and they are holding up just fine. That's lucky: if memory serves, all speakers small enough to fit the existing spots are all discontinued :'(
The guys at the sound shop said the car's got an amp for the rear speakers, while the front just runs off voltage from the deck. Their first choice to install a new deck was running all-new wire, but they didn't have the time to do it that day. They managed to find a (Ford, I think) harness that let them connect a micro-voltage output for the rear speakers. It's a bit of a hack... like I have to run my stereo with sound balanced way to the rear to make it sound right from the driver's seat.
I've had problems (like, a big unexpected teardown on my car trying to find out what's wrong) with my running lights from rotten circuit boards and wiring. I'm still dealing with a problem opposite to yours for headlights, the "headlight" setting turns the lights off, but I can still turn on my high-beams from that position. The problem's been traced to a fault in my steering column light switches, but I haven't been able to track down a replacement unit yet.
