Headlights, blinkers, heater, and wipers quit today...
hey all, ive been the proud owner of my 1992 audi 100cs for about 3 months now, have never had any problems with it what so ever until this week..i turned on my car and first noticed the heater wasnt working then went on to find out the headlights dont turn on all the way (only the parking lights come on) and also found out the blinkers and wipers quit as well, im not in any way a mechanic* but thought id see if anyone else might know what it could be..the closest audi dealer is 200+ miles away so i was hoping to find something out before i try and drive it there with no heat any and all advice will be be appreciated, thank you

Yup, first thing to do is check the fuses and relays. I would have thought it was your control stalk if you didn't mention the heater.
When you say "heater", is it the fans that don't work? Or are the fans blowing, but there's just no heat?

i checked the fuses inside the car and there fine but im not sure how to check the fuses/relays under the hood, someone said use a meter tester and see if they come up 0 or somthing not sure how to tell if there good or bad, as far as the heater goes nothing turns on, no fan or lights in the digital box..i read that it could be a problem with melted plastic in the stearing colum* ????

I've had a couple of control stalks in VAG vehicles go wonky on me - both times I removed and thoroughly cleaned them with contact cleaner and tools, reinstalled them and they both worked fine for the remainder of my ownership. Not saying that's for sure the problem, but it's something to think about. That said, I don't see how a faulty control stalk would render the climate system inoperable, unless maybe a short fried something else. You really should procure some wiring diagrams if you're going to attempt to trace electrical faults.
If you do pull the stalk yourself, very clearly mark the steering wheel position so that you can install it in the correct orientation. Be careful with the airbag (no static electricity!), and pull the battery before starting the job. You'll also need a large triple square bit for the steering wheel (M12, I think), and small torx bits for the airbag (T30). You should have all of those tools if you plan to work on any German car.
EDIT: the aforementioned sizes are for 2000+ VAG vehicles - I'm not sure if they apply to a '92 100.
