I'm not local, but wondering if you know a more affordable source for a VAG-COM CAN cable for an Audi A5?
Ross-tech's is pretty steep at $349 USD, and I'm not sure I trust the chinese ones onm ebay for $20. Something in the middle would be nice

Seems like a handy tool, plus I need to activate my daytime runnign lights.

Maybe a cheaper way would be to find someone in Mississauga. Some Ebay cables work, and some dont, They work with an old version of Vag-Com so I am not a 100% sure if you will be even to use it for the A5. I have no idea of anything else, I paid mine around the $500 range and that was steep, so they are a bit cheaper now.

The dealer 5051, about $36,000 CDN
The dealer 5052, about $7,200 CDN

The OEM VCDS is by far the best value for an OEM based scan tool compared to any tool on the market. There is no middle of the road, the clones will not even work with an respectable reliability on your model. We're in the late part of 2009 and your model is a full CAN vehicle.

The other solution, hire a shop that has the OEM version and get it done there.

Thank you for the tip. That shop is maybe 10 mins from my house.

I lucked out, the DRL's are managed by MMI so was able to toggle it on in the menu.
