Default c4 100cs gauge cluster question ??

does anyone know if the gauge cluster out of a 96' a6 w/ 2.8 12v auto will work in a 92' 100cs ?? its the same car but does anyone know if the gauges will work ? did they have them coded in 96' ? or even 92' for the car ?

thanks
clet

What engine is in your car, if it has the same amount of cylinders you will have a chance. One issue you will run into is the fact that your car has a speedo cable and a mechanical speedo/odometer and the newer 1996 car uses an electric speedo which has VSS on the transmission or so I would imagine. I have not swapped one of these myself so the plug on the rear of the cluster may be different but the mechanical versus electronic speedo may be an issue.
