2003/2004 Allroads - what to look for?
Hi all,
New to the forum.
I looked at an 2003 and an 2004 allroad today. Have owned an 03 A3 and an 04 A4 previously.
The car I prefered was the 03 with about 100k km. It was imported from Oregon in 2006. The Audi dealer has done some research and found no declarations but I know it can be risky with a US car. Also, there is no maintenance history with the vehicle.
I have read through the forum and noted many posts on the airbags and other typical issues.
My question is - what are the major issues you guys would suggest I consider/check/inspect prior to buying a 2003 or 2004 allroad??
The dealership is only offering a 3 month drive-train warranty.
Thanks in advance for you help!

Re: 2003/2004 Allroads - what to look for?
Things that are specific to the allroad - naturally an air suspension failure is one of the typical shortcomings. It might be wise to check the car at the dealership first thing in the morning to make sure the front end hasn't dropped overnight, before someone has the chance to 'raise' it back up.
You've got to at least consider a timing belt replacement with that mileage. It would be good to know / check if it's been done already or whether that's something you're going to have to budget for.
If you're looking at a 2.7T engine (I can't remember which years the V8 was available), I'd definitely check for leaking turbos and listen for a strange whine sound when in boost. Either of those signs spell likely turbo replacement and that isn't cheap.
Hope that helps in your search!

I have a 2004 Allroad (auto) with km125000 on it and owned it for 18 months, bought it with km85000.
The things I have found with mine, CV boots, rear diff output seals, rear oil seal on trans (dripped oil onto cats) and front brakes warp/vibration. Going into shop next week for timing belt $1,000 (not stealership)
Love this car
Hope this helps a little
