Working thru the importation process for a 08 S4 Avant & have ?'s
First time poster, but long time reader/visitor of the site. I'm buying the car from the US and need to know if the bumpers on a US B7 are the same slow speed crash rating as a B7 sold in Canada? Is there anything else that I need to know ie. prov/fed inspections etc.
I appreciate your expertise!

Consult the RIV...
According to it, all Audi's 2002 and above are compliant for import from the US. Of course you will need to have the usual inspection but mods should be limited to daytime running lights and speedometer.
Anything older, you should consult an inspection station (i.e. many Canadian Tire's are official inspection center).

Well it's a done deal. Car is on the carrier today from LA... Supposed to be delivered by Friday. I'm very stoked. I'll report back on the process and the companies I was dealing with, as a couple have been top notch...

dude...go read my thread from like 2 years ago. I outline all the ins and outs.

All you need to do is turn the DRL switch on the dash before your second inspection (the one included in your RIV fee)
car is fully compliant in every way.
If you need any help, PM me...happy to help, and wouldn't mind seeing an Ibis 2008 so post some pics! My car imported is a 2007 Light Silver S4 sedan.

Hey Sakimano,
I actually did print your How-To list, which was very helpful. A couple of short cuts to update (emailing the title instead of faxing, earned a 5 minute response from the US Border!). From the time I attended the border wit hthe vehicle to the time I was peeling the insurance sticker for my new plates was max 3.5 hours, including the CDN Tire inspection. I rec'd the RIV sticker about a week later. So your list was very helpful...! Very happy with the avant (except the fuel consumption!!) but life is too short to drink cheap beer! LOL...I'll get some pix up ASAP...
Cheers!
