So I'll have an Audi engine but no frame, does that count?..
Hey guys, tomorrow I'll be picking up a 4.2L V8 engine that came out of a 2007 Audi A8. I'm getting it for a great price, as it has issues with bank 1. The previous owner said "I didn't let the engine warm up and right after starting the car I pressed the gas hard and took a corner a bit fast, and that's how bank 1 broke". The engine still ran after, but it had low power and was unable to idle for long. They put some new parts onto it to try and fix the issue (fuel delivery and ignition), but were unable to solve it, so they pulled this engine and replaced it with a new one. They kept this engine as backup for parts and such but never ended up using it after 2 years, so now they're giving it away.
So the engine hasn't ran in 2 years, they drained everything out of the engine except the oil, it has issues with bank 1 (which is the passenger side cylinder head correct?), and it had 160,000KM on it when it was pulled.
I plan on rebuilding this engine and hopefully eventually throwing it into an Audi of some sorts.
Where should I start? What should I do to the engine first since it has been sitting for 2 years? Any ideas on what would be causing the problems the previous owner had?
Also if I can't determine what the issue is with the passenger side head, could I not just simply replace the whole cylinder head to solve the issue?
-Thanks, Zack
