Newbie looking to buy 2009/2010 A4 2.0T Quattro/automatic
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie from Scarborough. I'm looking to buy a pre-owned car to replace my 2001 Mazda Protege. I need automatic and all wheel drive. At the top of my list is the Audi A4 2.0T Quattro, 2009 model year or later.
I test drove the Mercedes C300/350 4Matic, Mini Countryman, Lexus IS 250, Audi A4 and BMW 328 xi. I eliminated everything except Audi and BMW. So now it's a toss up.
What do members here think?
I'll be honest, Audi is my preference, but I have been to 4 dealerships in the GTA and I am really disappointed with the customer service and follow up. Only 1 dealership reached out to me after an appointment to see where I was in my decision. The other 3 simply ignored me. I'm pretty sure I showed them I was a serious buyer so I'm not sure why the follow-up is so poor.
However, I have been to 3 BMW dealerships and all 3 have been exceptional in following up and touching base.
For this reason, I am leaning towards BMW. But on the other hand, the Audi may be more affordable (lower insurance, V4, better mileage) but then again I heard it's more expensive to maintain. Decisions decisions!
I appreciate your thoughts and input here! I'm a Libra, it's hard for me to make decisions!

Re: Newbie looking to buy 2009/2010 A4 2.0T Quattro/automatic
Hi there.
Both the 3 and the A4 are good cars. I have a current body 3 series since 2006 and it's been pretty reliable so far... I also have a 2010 A4 which has been good to me but I can't speak to long term ownership yet.
Keep in mind there is a new body 3 series coming out (hitting the dealerships next month) so that may impact the decisioning process.
As for following up etc... sales is different from service. I would say focus more on the after sales support rather than pre-sale.

Re: Newbie looking to buy 2009/2010 A4 2.0T Quattro/automatic
When I was looking to purchase I had 3 options in mind a g37, 3 series, or the a4. I had driven and always loved the g coupes which was what I was sure I was going to own. The 3 series after being in it and driving It didn't have that "homely" feel for me. It was nice, drove very nice. Ur the style of the interior didn't catch me. The a4 sold me the drive felt nicer I loved how taking corners felt, and the style of the interior caught me. I've had my car since beginning of December no problems or issues(being a 4-5 y.o car, with 92,xxxkm) are you looking to buy from an Audi dealer direct or would you be looking at smaller used car dealerships?
Pm if your interested in a second hand dealership with American cars. I opted for an American because I hate the drl's that run continuous my car has a dial switch to turn them off/on.

I'm returning the car Feb 16/12 to lease a '12 A4 Avant S-line. It has 118,000k on it Jan21/12
I drive the 401 from Kingston at 90kmh, 4 snows on rims. Original brakes because I'm always on the 401 on I-81 and I-90
Stay with Audi, if it is the true, and full time quattro+ that you seek.
