Hello everyone!

Purchased a 2002 Audi 1.8t quattro 5spd three weeks ago from megacars.ca located on Hastings.

Have the ABS,ESP, and lights indicators showing. Car was also misfiring. Changed all spark plugs and coil packs. Misfires gone. Oil light came on a few different occasions. Checked oil, the level is fine. Misfires again and engine light blinks. This is on a cold 4 am start. Engine light remains on so I swap with old coils till misfire goes away. Checked codes, got 17698,16804,16684, 16686. Coolant temp sensor at rad, catalyst, random cyl misfire, and misfire at cyl #2 respectively. Got this checked at Granville Auto Pro. Then went to Drivehard in Richmond, where friend works. Sorry for the next bit am not car savy. Mechanic found previous person had "boosted" the car. This is because we found car has a t-shaped joint in the boost hose. The cap on this t joint was broken, so replaced cap. Not sure if one of those codes is for speed sensor, but mechanic also stated speed sensor code is also coming up. Checked all piston internal running temps and exhaust burning fuel etc. Everything was normal. Driving to work next day, steady 70km/hr at least 4-6 min engine light comes on. At mechanics again, one of the breather hose b/w the fuel injector pump and.... something was broken so replaced that and the hose it was attached to. Figured this would take the catyl code away since now there is no leak in hoses. Also had to replace driver side light bulb.

Another problem with the car may be with the gearbox, or synchros in transmission. On occasion I am not able to get the car into any gear. The car may be in motion when this happens, eg driving along and go from neutral to any gear. Eventually I can push it in. But most often when it whens is when I start the car initially for a trip. If I start it and it has problems getting into gears, I will have that problem throughout that drive. Once I was at a left hand turn for three lights !!!! sigh. However if I start it and that problem does not come up then it shifts smoothly into gear. It can not be the clutch since when it does work it works very well. It always shifts into gear, just sometimes it seems like there's something blocking the way so when you try shifting into 1st you really have to push it in. Some times I fear I will break the shifter.. I tried double clutching, letting go slowly as I put it in to gear, going to reverse etc. What helps is say it doesn't go into first I try 2nd etc [even reverse when completely stopped] till it goes into one of them then try to work backwards to first... but imagine this happening in traffic. It has happened on occasion.

Anywho wanted to say sup, this car is amazing to drive!!! I feel so giddy. Eventually post pics, its dolphin grey with beige leather and carbon fiber trim.
so sexy

Ended up doing some work on the car. Well a lot of work, because the cat code was up wanted to ensure the coolant system was running good so started with thermostat which took out the water pump so did that also the timing belt at the same time and while at it did the drive belt. Still had the oil indicator coming on at 1600-2200rpm so did oil change, filter, valve cover, oil pressure sensor. Had to do an A/C recharge, also had EPC light come on so did the crank sensor. The oil light still did not go away so did the oil pump and finally to get rid of all that clutch gear bullshit, did an after market single mass fly-wheel and clutch job. Now car drives like new!
