Audi TTS in winter/TTRS when available
Hey everyone... first post!
I was thinking of selling my ZCP e46 M3 for either a TTS or (hopefully if) the TTRS comes across the boarder. They are looking pretty sweet, and I hear they drive really well. One concern I have is it will be a daily driver, so will it be able to handle the wonderful Ontario and Alberta winters (more specifically Kingston/GTA/Calgary.) It wouldn't be driven on crazy snowy days, but for a typical winter day, would it be alright (a.k.a. clearance, handling etc...) I know it would be tough to say how the TTRS would be (since it might not even make it over,) but how did you guys find your TTS's during the winter?
Thanks for your help, I look forward to becoming an active forum member!

Re: Audi TTS in winter/TTRS when available
Welcome to the forum, Hugh!
I'm in Regina and I've been driving a TTS for most of the winter, barring the odd day where I needed a little more cargo room. I've been up to Saskatoon and over to Winnipeg a few times. I've had no issues with clearance or traction. The TTS sits 10 mm lower than the TT yet the TT RS will sit only 3 mm lower than the TTS. Either car should be capable in our winters with the quattro AWD system and even better with a good set of winter tires. That being said, I've still had the option of a second vehicle should the weather provide more extreme travel conditions. So far I have only executed that option once, when it was melting and dirty outside!

Re: Audi TTS in winter/TTRS when available
Welcome as well Hugh:
I have a first generation TT225 Q and drive frequently to (and around) Whistler. With 4 winter tires the car is tremendous in snow, and I have never had a problem on the highway. However, when the snow is really deep on the side streets I have had some minor clearance issues. And mine is stock height, but this is extremely rare. For the very few times it might be a concern it is definitely worth having the car, it is so nice to drive and the TTS will be quite a bit better. Don't count on the TTRS coming to Canada anytime soon (IMO), go straight for the TTS.
Cheers
