Hazard/flasher unit
I have to change the flasher unit attached to the hazard indicator on my TT.
Anyone have an idea how to get to it.
It seems the whol dash has to come out.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!
Thx

Re: Hazard/flasher unit
You get at it by removing the radio and accessing the hazzard switch from below using that opening. Mine is on the way out to, as this unit controls the turn signals, and mine are starting to stop blinking every once in a while while waiting to turn. If you do a search on other Audi sites you can find a DIY. My car has to go in for a service soon, and since it's a CPO car, I'm planning on getting my unit changed under warranty. Apparantly it's a fairly common problem on our TT's.

If you go to this Jeff guy's main page he has many other helpful DIY pages.

Re: Hazard/flasher unit
We just changed the flasher and the turn signal arm on an 01 TT 225HP due to the dreaded "random fast clicks" after completing a turn.
The flasher was easier than the arm!

Re: Hazard/flasher unit
I had Owasco Audi change out my flasher unit yesterday while it was in for the Haldex service. It's nice to have turn signals again!, they were working only about 30% of the time.

Re: Hazard/flasher unit
Magnum,
Did you get your indicators fixed?
Last year I had them go twice. The second time was different from the first, but the dealership told me it would be the hazard switch again.
I explained that the problem was different from when I'd had to have the hazard switch replaced; and my research from the UK TT Forum suggested the turn signal stalk.
Dealership insisted it wasn't.
Fortunately I'd kept my old (failed) hazard and reinstalled to see if the problem was the same; but it changed; therefore I knew it had to be the stalk.
I purchased and installed new stalk myself and problem was fixed.
I understand that it most cases it's the hazard switch; but a failed indicator stalk also gives similar failure (but not exactly same symptoms).
