Default gas tank skid plate?

my 01 TT has a plastic skid plate ( I guess that's what ya call it ) under the gas tank held in place by clips. Only a couple of the clips are holding it up in place now and at 60-70 mph it starts flapping and rubs the road. What's the correct word for these clips so I know what to ask for? Are they available anywhere else other than a dealer?

thanks...............mike

OK, they ain't clips. There's several studs attached to the body that secures the plastic pan. The threads on these studs are more like wood screw threads. Are there some kind of plastic nuts that hold this plastic pan up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had these mickey mouse screws fail on my TT as well last winter during a snow storm from running in deep snow. Over the years these weaken, especially if you get your haldex serviced regularly as they drop the plastic shields to get at it. When my shields dropped I ended up putting the rear of the car up on stands in my garage, and replaced the screws with the closest similar screw I could source. I also drilled two holes around the same area and added some heavey duty tie wraps, with the tightener on the top hidden side and trimmed the access. This was done to make sure that if the screws ever failed again, at least the shields won't drop down. They really should have a better way to secure these.
