Default Red '90 coupe quattro 20v

Guys, my clutch spring finally started getting soft on me (it still works well to make the car go, give or take) and it's time to retire my car for an A3.

I'm wondering if anyone wants to pick it up for parts, or buy it and fix up the clutch? The bodywork and interior are in awesome shape, engine's great, brakes and electronics have all been updated since I bought it. I live in Kitchener, Ontario and I know there are a couple guys in town with the same model, here's hoping they see this.

Message if you're interested.

I'd be all over this if we were closer to one another! What are you looking to get for it?

I'd like to get $3000.

A small part of me wants to hang on to it until I'm rich and fix it up for myself, but I know how hard parts are to get for these things so someone should use mine to keep their ride going.

Anyway's...I might have a buyer for you...but I'm not to sure he'll pay $3000 for a coupe that's not really driving properly. But I will ask him. We would like to see the car...any chance you could e-mail me pics??

This is awesome. I'm willing to make a deal for price. I'll snap some pics tomorrow morning.

I need to photo up the '07 A3 I just took delivery of as well.

I could do Friday evening, or some time on Sunday or Monday.

Attached are the pics I had on hand for my car... I woke up late for work this morning so I didn't whip my camera out for more.
The black car sneaking in on the pics is my A3. The similarity between their sizes kinda surprised me.

Wow the car looks to be in very good shape...Are you sure it's the clutch spring that is on it's way out. I'm off tomorrow if that works for you. It would be great to meet up if you can. Let me know. Thanks...

Thanks, I've been trying to keep it restored. I wanted to take a couple pics of the bumpers, they took some hits during the winter and I hadn't gotten the money together to replace 'em, but the rest is in great shape.

I'm certain it's the clutch spring except for having opened the thing up to see for myself: the clutch still engages and disengages smoothly, but the engine slips unless you're really really gentle with it, and the pedal has a really spongy return to it.

If the clutch plates or splines were bad, it the action would be grinding and nasty. I'm pretty sure it's just that the spring's losing its strength... as far as I know the hydraulics only act to push the clutch open (it opens just fine) and the only thing acting to hold it closed is the spring. It would be awesome if I was wrong and it was some really simple thing to sort out.
