Xpel Ultimate Install Disaster on Q5
Took delivery of my brand new 2015 Q5 from Royal Oak Audi in Calgary, but noticed lots of crease marks and lifting film upon delivery. Not ideal, but they acknowledged the issues and told me it would be fully redone.
I had Xpel Ultimate on the front grille, full hood, A-pillars, mirrors, lights, leading edge of roof, fenders, rocker panels, door cups and top of rear bumper. While there were issues all over, the biggest was the full hood.
While I was away they apparently tried multiple times to get it right, but I am told their installer quit his job over my car after being told to redo it so many times. I've had film on other cars but have never had issues before like this. In the end Royal Oak Audi refunded me the $2800 I paid for all the film (and left it on the car). Given the number of times they tried to redo it and the fact they gave a full refund, I guess I can't fault them too much for poor customer service, however, it is pretty disappointing that they could not do the job.
I did ask the service manager if this were his car if he would be happy and he said no, so I don't think my expectations were too high. It is a black car in Calgary, so I wanted it fully protected and the only thing I would see is the edges of the film.
So the question is, what do I do now? Is there someone in Calgary that can install Xpel film where I don't have to worry about crease marks, stretch marks, and marring in the film? Someone who can do a full hood and not tell me it's too hard to install and just give up? I was told this installer had been doing film since the early 90's so one would think if he can't do it, either he was incompetent or this job is really hard and no one can do it?
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeff

Re: Xpel Ultimate Install Disaster on Q5
Thought I would post a bit of an update. Ben from Xpel contacted me directly via PM (awesome customer service!) and put me in touch with Refine Auto Salon here in Calgary. Waited 2 weeks to get in only to have them tell me the hack at Royal Oak Audi cut through my paint when he cut the full hood film. So it's now back at Maranello's to be repainted. I say "back" because Royal Oak Audi dinged my rear bumper even before I took possession of my NEW car. So my two month old car has now had the bumper and hood repainted. I'm just waiting to hear some other part of the car was also cut. Needless to say, not too impressed with Royal Oak Audi so far. They are paying for all of the repairs and are now handling everything, though I've probably let them off the hook way too easy. They should be ordering me a new car from factory IMHO!

Finally have my car back. Between the team over at Xpel and Refine Auto Salon, could not be happier with the service and end product. Would highly recommend both companies in a heartbeat!
