Default Rear Lights/vag com question

Hi all,

I just joined this forum today.

I have modified rear lights of my 2003 A4 1.8TQ Avant, instead of fog I use the top portion as brake lights now, my problem is that on board computer is now showing that my rear fog is malfunctioning. Is there a way through vag com to disable rear fog alerts etc.

Appreciate your help.....

Atif

Thanks, as you know the A4s have rear fog lights, the top portion of the the rear left light is used for this purpose. What I have done is that I had my mechanic wire the top portion of both rear lights with the brake light wiring, cutting off the fog light wire and patching the socket with brake light wires for both rear lights resulting in on board computer telling me that my rear fog light is malfunctioning. I just need to go in via vag com and disable the fog light alerts. I can take some picutres but don't know how to post them on the forum.

If you're located somewhere close to Toronto, I can meet up and show you.

Thanks for your help once again,
Atif

Oh so the fog-light is completely disabled! I see yeah you can over ride the warning with vag com or what you can do is just wire up that fog light wire in parallel with the brake light. so you have both options. its really simple, and easy to do

Very good, thanks for your help, I'll wire it parallel to the brake light so that option is still there.

Thanks, I'll go to the mechanic with both options, whichever is easier and simpler we'll with that.

Thanks again...

I think you should connect a diode between the fog and the brake light. That way, when you turn on the fog light, you won't also turn on the brake light. While your at it, insert a bulb in the spare socket on the right side and you will have double brake lights. (that's what I did)
