Chromed-out sports cars are normally associated with Middle-Eastern Oil Tycoons or rappers with more money than they know what to do with, but in this case two all-chrome R8 Spyder were donated by Audi to raise money for charity.

The White Tie and Tiara Ball, held at the home of Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish, is an annual event that raises money for the Elton John Aids AIDS Foundation (EJAF). The mirror-like chrome finish (which could potentially be as distracting to other motorists as the glitzy Las Vegas billboards at night) applied to the 194-mph drop top was intended “to attract the highest possible bids.” Indeed, they did just that, raking in a collective $1 million for the charity.

“Sir Elton John’s fundraising ball really is a golden ticket event that is as glamorous as it is hugely effective in fundraising terms,” said Jeremy Hicks, Director of Audi UK. “We are delighted, and enormously proud, to support it for a ninth year with the donation of what is arguably our most fittingly glamorous model.”

Audi’s bling-mobile comes loaded with the 525-hp V-10, manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive enabling you to blind –err beat the guy in the next lane trying to race you in.

 

can only imagine how much that would suck to clean the bugs off of it!
