Default Shell Nitrogen Gas Problems?

Hey folks

As some of you know, Shell introduced their Nitrogen gasoline aimed at protecting Direct Injection engines. The theory is that since DI has a very high compression ratio, nitrogen stands up better than other fuel additives to help keep our injector clean.

The problem that i've faced is either a coincidence, or directly involved with the new gasoline.

Upon adding my first tank of Shell Nitrogen enriched gas, at 120km/hr with the cruise control, every 1 out of 10 trips at that speed, I would get a slight studder for about 1 second. It feels like a downshift, but without the gear change....

Then, I went on a roadtrip to NY and DC. Obviously, Exxon and Sunoco is easier to come by on service stations, I never once noticed the issue...

Coming back to Canada, it's back to Shell and i've had the issue happen again...(albeit I filled up again at the same station).

Anybody have any theories? I tried filling up today at a different Shell station (newer one), so maybe the problem will go away....

i have had similar problems with Shell in the GTA... I used to ONLY use Sunoco 94 until i couldn't find one and used ESSO... believe it or not their premium brand was better than anything else i have used.

The reason for better gas mileage is there is more useable energy in a gallon of Shell than other fuels that use 10% ethanol. More potential energy relates to more potential gas mileage.

I have never been on or around any Shell gas station since 1986.
In my opinion they always have some ideas what to add to gas and even one time they added Canola Oil and said that this would make engine run smoother, but it only plugged my injectors on AUDI 5000.
Went to some creepy mechanic who cleaned them but charged me for new ones, so filling up at Shell one time resulted in $480.00 expense.
Gas at $ 10.00 per liter - Thanks but no thanks
AVOID AT ALL COST

Yeah, no issues with shell whatsoever adam, and I get better gas mileage than with the rest. And from what some of the members of the club have seen here in Cowtown even better performance. So as long as I don't see a commercial that they are brining back canola oil I'll keep using Shell.

I put so much cash into my car that gas mileage is marginal cost to me. All I care is performance and safety.
ESSO gives me the best performance and Petro Can is for backup.

I get 11L /100 km city and 10.0 L highway. Funny thing - my 1996 Jetta 2.0L (LOL! back to 2 liter engines) was at 10 liters even, and that was much lighter car weight 1100 kg and audi is 1500kg?

Wow I didn't realize the 2.8 was so bad on gas Adam. I get 8.0 on the highway with my 3.2 and my combined is usually only around 10 with 50/50 driving city/highway.

The 2.0L A4 I took for a night did 6.5-7L/100k on the highway... and my 2.0L 09' TDI did 4.8L/100k on the highway and my combined was never higher than 6.
