purchasing a certified audi with crash record
Hi all,
im looking forward to purchase my first audi! (woo~~~)
on research i located a 2010 s4 certified preowned, which falls right on my budget,
however, one thing comes to mind is this vehicle has a crash record, and have been repaired.
the sales kept on telling me theres nothing to worry about since all certified audi are repaired and reinsured.....but i still feel a little bit iffy about this, hope some of you guys here can offer some opinion/suggestions!
thanks

Re: purchasing a certified audi with crash record
Does the dealer have details of the crash and repairs done? They should be able to obtain at least the repair costs and hopefully what items have been replaced, which would give you an idea of the seriousness of the crash - did airbags go off, was inspection of frame done, what panels (if any) were replaced, any wheels replaced, etc.?
It could be a very minor fender bender or rear ending, in which case, I wouldn't worry too much. But, definitely try to find out what was repaired/replaced.

Find out how much dammage was done to the car ,because if it exceeds a certian amount an Audi dealer cant sell it as a CPO vehicle .Make sure they give you a Carfac report as the damage should be there

If I were you, I would still consult your local Fix Auto body shop and within minutes they can tell you where it was hit, sprayed and the severity of the damage should the frame be affected which is highly unlikely since it is CPO but still the dealer should and must come clean or else simply walk away...

Re: purchasing a certified audi with crash record
Don't they reveal carproof or Carfax? I saw A4 being sold at Southgate Audi (Edmonton) and it had a carproof showing the damage was over $25k front passanger side. They were selling it for very very very high price although it was over $25k damaged. I believe some stupid person bought it as I don't see it on the pre owned list.

Re: purchasing a certified audi with crash record
My best friend purchased last year a CPO certified 2007 BMW 328 from a BMW dealer in Montreal
Since I did work for a major body shop he wanted to consult me on something bothering him...
I told him to go see a friend of mine who owns a bodyshop and our fears were indeed validated
His passenger side door, front bumper were repaired and you could see the paint difference. In addition the rear window had been replaced and the silicone trim was very poorly done as if someone smudged it all ver with his finger...
Some dealers simply slap the CPO sticker as they simply tick the boxes,
Lastly I did learn that any factory paint goes in what they call the high bake process which will never be replicated by any aftermarket bodyshop since they only use the low bake method.
A reputable bodyshop will try and match as much as they can the color by buffing all the car to minimize the color difference...

100% agree with AudiCan...especially for a sport car S4
I would keep looking until you find a perfect clean record or better yet know who was the driver since many cars especially sport ones are driven quiet aggressively to say the least unfortunately...
