List of VAG-COM Owners

Re: List of VAG-COM Owners
Hi,
Has anyone here tried using the cable from VAG Diagnostics Ltd - VCDS Vag-Com 908, 912, & 10.6 Cables ? Its a third of the price of the ross-tech one, so I'm a little skeptical but at the same time can't overlook the cost savings.

Pay the money and get the fully supported cable or ask for help from one of the forum members in your area. The software referenced has been updated to newer versions now. My Ross-Tech cable paid for itself by helping me diagnose an intermittent CEL on my 2005 Audi.

Re: List of VAG-COM Owners
Mirza, I tried to send you a message yesterday but since I was just joining the forum, I am not sure I was successful sending the message.
Anyway, I just purchased a 2011 R8 (USDM) and am looking to get the DRL set to always 'on' with ignition for RIV test. I am a DIY type of guy (own a highly modified 94 Supra Turbo, did all work myself) so looking to understand VAG-COM now that I own an Audi. Likely will buy one from Ross-Tech but for now just trying to get the vehicle licensed in Alberta. Any chance you might be able to help?

R8Spyder,
Does your light switch currently have a physical button (roll) to turn on/off the DRL? if so, the only way to disable the function to turn off the DRL (double negation meaning forcing them on all the time) is to physically remove a wire at the back of the switch (the DRL off portion of the switch).
I don't know much about the R8 but this was fairly easy to do on my TT. Let me know if you need instructions on how to pop out this switch.
One other option some people have done is just putting a little black electric tape over the DRL OFF writing under the switch and removing the tape after the RIV inspection (at Canadian Tire).

Re: List of VAG-COM Owners
Hi. The other day i tried coding my audi a5 2010 (v6) in order to enable aux ventilation. The Coding worked as i could see the options in the ac setup menu, and the fan would remain on after the aux ventilation was turned on. However, after enabling the feature, the car stopped providing heat when idling. I tried turning off all the settings in the ac menu but had no luck. After disabling aux ventilation the heating system began to work normally again. I was really hoping to enable the feature in my Audi and was wondering if you could help me troubleshoot if anything was done wrong or if further steps are needed to fix the issue. Thanks

Hi Puppyg:
Question for you, when you say "when idling" was the engine off (ignition on) or was the engine on?
If the former then that's normal. This feature only controls the fan, all it does is circulate existing hot air from your engine bay, it doesn't actually keep the heating "system" going. To keep the heating system going and actually produce heat you'll need a module installed on the car which isn't available in North America.
