Default How long should winter tires last?

I just put on my winter wheels for this year. They're getting near the wear bars, but I think I might be able to get another season out of them.

This will be the forth season for the Pirelli's on my Audi.

How many seasons should winter tires last?

I think 4 seasons is pretty good, I'm very diligent with making sure I rotate them properly from year to year.

I use these tire storage tags to keep organized. They're from tire-tags.com if anyone is interested.

4 seasons is what I would expect in an awd car with decent properly maintained tires with average driving so your wear sounds pretty typical. tires on an awd car do wear out faster than fwd.

Yeah, 4-5 winters seems about right.

3-4 seasons. I find a lot of winter tires really lose their effectiveness when they start to wear down.

I used to do 4 years with Pirelli, Michelin, Toyo, etc... until my brother advised me to switch to Nokian Hakkapilletta.

I am now on my 6th (and last) year on the Volvo Xc70 (AWD and heavy).
I am now on my 5th year (at least 2 more years left) on my Audis (S4 for 3.5 winters and TT 1/2 of last year and this year).
We (my wife and I) put about 24,000km per year on the Volvo and 18,000 per year on the Audi. The Volvo does more as it is our week-end we use to go to the cottage (specially to go skiing in the winter).

All this to say that the Nokian are a little more expensive than the other good winter tires but they are really exceptional as far as traction and durability. Very happy with the "investment".

On my fourth season with studded Gislaved North Frost 5. I try to get them as late as possible and remove them as soon as possible so depending on the mileage you put on them and the outside temperature your mileage will vary.
