Oh Yea, Clay is so worth it and you will feel and see the difference. And it is not hard to do, just follow the instructions on the kit or go to Auto detailing clay, detail clay bar, clay lubricant, Pinnacle Poly Clay, Wolfgang, auto detail clay, meguiar's detailing clay, auto clay bar. I usually cut the clay bars in half because if you drop the clay on the ground, its done, no matter how dirty it looks, toss it. So I like to cut mine so I know I have a back up.
I have a Porter Cable, but I only use for polish, everything else I do by hand. For shine (the wet look), you want Carnuba, IMO. Try two thin coats than one thick coat.
But for any wax, you need a clean base and you will get the best shine
