Bad sign? Port Halifax -> Ottawa Audi logistics...
Update: getting the car today afternoon!
Here's my little story..
- I put a deposit on a A4 on April 18th.. There was one coming by boat and arriving in Halifax on the 24th, it was supposed to go to another dealer but my dealer "took it" (ie: tagged the car or something and "rerouted" it to him). According to him, I'd have it on the 30th, or maybe may 1st if it was late.
- May 1st comes, still no car. I was told that the car left Halifax on the 28 so they'd have it the week after, ie: May 4th.
- May 8: still no news.. so I call them and the car is apparently sitting in Montreal but hey, not to worry he was expecting it the same day.
- May 12th: still no news.. so I call him and hey what do you know, dealer has no clue what the hell the car is still doing in Montreal. he says that he was in communication with Audi canada to figure out whey they aren't shipping it to them. There's apparently another car in the same situation but it will all get resolved and when that happens he usually gets the car within 24 hours. (heard that one before..)
- Still no news today (big surprise )
Now my question is: while this isn't really "normal", is it something I should worry about? Do they have some kind of repair facility in Montreal where they fix cars that they dropped off the boat or train? The dealer tells me that the car is assigned to me in the system, hasn't been sold twice and that yes, I'll get it soon but I keep wondering how come that Audi Canada could screw up the transport of car like that.. something seems fishy..
The dealer is also dragging it's feet and not providing the car info to my insurance company... which makes things even more fishy. I got a good deal on the car and my trade-in and there aren't many 6MT left w/ sport pack otherwise I would have tried to get my deposit back. Then again, I'm not sure what I'd buy...
In case someone has special access to WTF is happening, it's a 2.0T, 6mt, sport pack (nothing else), quartz grey and it's "en route" to Ottawa..

That whole purchase experience definitely helps build confidence that if there is something wrong with the car when it's under warranty I can count on the dealer to help

There is one in production stock in quartz with sports and B&O that belongs to the dealer in Ottawa and it's marked sold. Is that it?
There are two in QC but they are marked sold.

Well well well.. afretes is the man. At the same time that he posts in this thread, the dealer calls me and tells me that he has just received my car and I can pick it up at 4 today..
so *it appears* that <knocks on wood multiple times> I'll be getting the car today..

It turns out that they shipped it by train to Montreal and the CN had a pretty big backlog. It stayed in the train for 10 days before they could unload it.
