Audi R4 aka Baby R8!!! What do you guys think?
New Audi R4 the R8's little sibling | car reviews, car news, automotive news, car technology | Ultimate Street
Audi is planning to build both a coupe and roadster version of the R4. Audi's engineers plan on keeping the weight light with the use of aluminum and I am sure we will see that the R4 will be blessed with some carbon fiber to help further reduce weight. If enough of these materials are used it is very possible that the new R4 will weigh less than 2500 lbs.
The R4 is positioned as an affordable sports car for younger buys. The price for the base model should come in under $30,000. VW Group has a slew of engines they could use to power the R4. They have both a supercharged and turbocharged version of a 1.4-liter gas four banger or a 1.6 or 2.0-liter turbo diesel. It's also possible Audi will offer an electric version just like the e-tron concept preview. It seems that Audi will also offer their Quattro all-wheel-drive system on the R4 as well. Later in the life cycle we can expect to see a top-spec version that could utilize VW's notorious 2.0-liter turbo that can crank out anywhere from 200 to 300 hp.
