Anyone ever buy an aftermarket warranty for their Audi?
My car's warranty is expiring so I thought I'd explore offers as I'd really like to keep it for a few more years. My car is an 07 S4 and Audi offers an extended warranty sold through the business office. I think it's called pure protection. Cost? $7900+tax lol.
Anyway, I've looked around and found a few options that make a little more sense ($4500+HST for one)...and one that made none ($13,000 for 4 years).
Now, I've heard of people in the US getting a 3yr 36,000 miles warranty for $3000 before on these cars (B6/7 S4). I wonder if we could buy a warranty from one of those warranty companies in the US. ALmost all of the warranty offers I've seen in Canada say the repairs can be done in the US or Canada. I wonder if the US warranties go the same way.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing ANY input (good bad or indifferent).

Re: Anyone ever buy an aftermarket warranty for their Audi?
I got an aftermarket powertrain warranty for 5years 160000kms when i bought the car off of a used dealership. Audi powertrain doesn't seem to fail often but I used it when my waterpump broke down. The whole timingbelt job had to be done, but they only paid the labour for getting into the waterpump and the waterpump itself which was aprroximately around 500 dollars. I paid a deductible of 90 dollars and rest of the timing belt kit. It wasn't a big hassle to get them to pay for things but I do my oil changes every 3months or 5000km according to the contract.
Besides that, I do regret not getting a full bumper to bumper warranty because I did spend over 2500 dollars repairing some things after a month into ownership.
Make sure that you check the deductibles, and the maximum $$ coverage.

2. what did you spend $2500 on that wasn't covered?
3. maximum coverage is key - on my car an engine replacement is $15,000+
I've looked at a few
Lubrico - these guys are NUTS. They want you to change the oil every 3 or 6 months, at a shop, with a receipt, and you have to update your file on their website every time within like 30 days or your warranty is void. Give me a break. THey also offer MAXIMUM liability of $5000. Terrible all around.
Ensurall - these guys seem a lot more realistic. Coverage is pretty thorough, and costs weren't horrendous (they were pretty high, but don't forget I have an S4). Cost was around $4,000 for 4 years or 80,000 kms, whatever comes first for thorough coverage. They're currently running a 20%/$500 (whatever is lower) off sale.
warrantydirect.ca - they only offered 1 year on my car, so that's useless. It was $2500 if anyone is interested
Audi - Audi offers an extended warranty (not CPO) that costs a small fortune. For my 2007 S4 that had 79,000 kms when I went in, the warranty cost was $7800+tax for 3 years (something like that...my head spun when I looked at the quote so I said thanks anyway lol)
What I would like to know is if we can buy a warranty from the US because the deals there are far superior.
