Hello all. i know i have not posted here before but i have been up and down the threads many times trying to find all the info i can. the time is here to get my first audi. im town between the B6 or B7 A4 or S4. i need information as known issues. insurance and gas im not worried about...

1) how many kms are to many kms. i want the car to last me a few years.
2) well known problems i will run into with either car
3)anything else i need to know that you all know about.

Basically i need to know if i should spend a little more upfront and get the S4 and not be tempted to mod cuz its pretty much everything i want, or save some money get the A4 and start modding that. i would appreciate anyones opinions on this. it would be a huge help.

 

Hi John, try searching a little harder. There have been similar threads documented in the forum. Another great way to get to know the vehicles you want might be to read up on them in the Wikipedia. An A4 is really a lot different than an S4 whether it's a B6 or a B7 chassis. I'm sure there would be a lot of other members that would chime in to give you some heads up. My advice to you; "Get the newest, least driven and if possible warrantied car your budget would allow"! Get a PPI on whichever car you wish to purchase and use common sense. A4 vs. S4 is a pretty interesting discussion point. I bought an S4 3 years ago after moving out of a B6 A4 Avant.

I loved the A4, but the S4 was a different experience altogether. As for buying one TODAY...I'm not sure what I'd do. i.e. if my car was stolen last night, and today I needed to replace it, I don't know what route I'd go. I love the 4.2 S4, but a used one would be hard to find (one with low kms...and that was taken care of properly for 2-5 years that the previous owner(s) owned it)

 

Took me 3 years to find mine but then again, I was pretty picky and wouldn't compromise on anything but the seats.
