Paint Chip Repair FAQ
Hi, I'm Mike and I am working with a paint chip repair company, and I would like to start a discussion of FAQ for paint chips and scratches. I can answer your paint chip/scratch related questions to the best of my knowledge.

Re: Paint Chip Repair FAQ
Hey there,
I drive a Black 2007 A3 2.0T. It's in very good shape inside and out. I recently had the car detailed and and looked great when it was first done. Here's the thing, after about two weeks (over which I'd cleaned the outside of the car a several times with a wet Microfiber cloth to remove the dust that shows up so easily on a black car) I noticed a whole ton of little white marks on the front end of the car (mostly the hood). I'm assuming that this is wax that's lodged in to all the various like nicks, chips and bumps. I can't seem to get the spots out. I'm wondering what advice you'd have. I live in Toronto btw.
Thanks,
Steve Z
ps. there's a couple little surface scratches on my car that I'd love to get rid of as well!

Re: Paint Chip Repair FAQ
I have the same issue with the hood and the white dots. But I have bunch of scratches all around. And recently some ..... opened their door pretty hard and left a dent in my rear door and chipped paint. i feel like repainting the whole car but maybe i can just get the little stuff fixed.

Nothing as of yet. I did go and get the touch up paint from the dealer but I know those things are terrible once i start marking it up with the pens they gave me it will look terrible.
I think I am going to go to a paint shop and see what they would charge to get the car repainted.

@SteveZ - if it is wax in the chips, dont worry about it until you need to re-apply wax, cleaning it out will only strip the wax off. Then use a degreaser or paint cleaner , wash and wax.

Re: Paint Chip Repair FAQ
What's the best way to knock down the "white" in a clear-coat scratch (very noticeable on Audi black)?
As lame as it sounds, I try to polish out what I can by hand then use a Sharpie on the scratch and re-polish the area to get the Sharpie off the surrounding paint. It works okay, but certainly is far from elegant.
