Ridiculous Ontario Police Harassment Story!!!!MY Story
Has anyone has been involved with police harassment? I've heard many stories about it, but have not been involved in any ------ until last week.
It was absolutely ridiculous. I am curious to know if you (or anyone you know) have any stories similar to mine. If you have police stories, PLZ Post Them.
Here is My Story:
6:43 on a friday exiting north off of the 410, I realize a police cruiser is signaling me to pull over. I proceed to pull over on the shoulder of the 410 exit.
The police officer approaches my vehicle and immediately says, “you were going 130km/h.” Being 6:43 on a friday, there was still some left over congestion on the highway and not only was I not doing anything over 90 (being that I was exiting), it was also impossible to do 130 when there were multiple cars infront of me. I told the Police Officer that that speed limit was impossible and I was not.
He took my license and insurance and returned eight minutes later asking me to step out of my vehicle. We are still on the highway exit ramp–not the safest place to be walking around I imagine.
As I exit the vehicle (My father’s 1995 mustang) The officer questions me about tire residue around my rear bumper. I replied that it was just residue from a cleaning gel and regular tire shred that is expected from a rear wheel drive car and tires on their last miles.
The officer continues by asking me if I’ve been racing, concluding with my tires are as bald as his head. I told him I haven’t been, the car is not mine it’s my fathers and the tires are old. He asked me whether my father knows I have the car. I continued to patiently reply to all these pointless questions as he continues asking me questions about drugs and where I’ve been doing brake stands to ruin the tires.
45 minutes later he hands me back my insurance and insurance and says “here you go speed racer, when I catch you doing brake stands I’m impounding your car and taking your license”
I was pulled over for nothing. Harassed for 45 minutes about nonsense, and insulted in the end for him wasting my time. And for the record, I have no traffic violation or accident in my seven years of driving. Nor did I ever do brake stands in my dads baby of a car.

Did you get any sort of ID from the officer so you're able to make a detailed complaint or no?
Sorry to hear about all that trouble, especially since it seems like a huge waste of time for no charges being laid

Police acting like God... in Ontario... what else is new!
I have a few stories from when I lived in GTA... too long to write but they go back to my early days in the '70s.
My "free and unsolicited" advice is to put it behind you... there are also a FEW good cops out there!
I live in Edmonton now... Sunday the police is off... speed limit is 110... fuel is just as expensive as in GTA...

you should have demanded to see his supervisor immediately, he would immediately freak. Officers are required to be able to handle the situation himself unless his life is in danger if not and he has to call his supervisor out that means trouble for him.

stories.....galore!!!
i've been pulled over in most cars i've driven...
from my father's 97 SEL 430 to his 2007 SL 500, to my 2003 Jeep Wrangler,and finally my 08' A4...
most days, u'll just find bored cops looking for something to do... and when they see an a young guy, in a car they wish they had... well.. ur story is the end result...
i believe the best solution has already been provided... put it behind u, and drive on into the sunset...

For the record, If you find yourself sitting there for 45 minutes on a traffice stop you've probably thrown out some attitude or made it clear that his untimely stop is an annoyance to you which appears to an officer that you are hiding something. also, police have the right to stop any vehicle to establish whether the driver is licensed, has insurance and ownership.
Regardless, all of us are far more likely to be killed in driving related incidents than in violent crime (real crime, which I am suprised nobody has brought up). This places high importance on regular old traffic enforcement. Its for our own good... and talk to a career criminal who couldn't even spit his gum out without being arrested and I bet he'll describe to you what he feels is true harrassment from police....
disclaimer: none of this was written to create enemies... devils advocate for the other side

I respect cops even when they are on their power trip I deserve the violation I got even though I do not agree with the points that go on your record. They are shutting down the track in my city and basically all that will do is bring racing out onto the streets

Re: Ridiculous Ontario Police Harassment Story!!!!MY Story
i had my Wrangler at the time, and was driving at the speed limit, top down, yada yada....
buddy pulls me over, proceeds to shout, scream (all withing 2 minutes) tellin me that i was speeding, and i should be more careful....
i told him i wasnt speeding, which was actually true, i was doing 90, as it was summer, and police were out in force that weekend.
nyhoo... his last line caught my attention... he called me a my friend a racial slur...
i flipped out, and asked for his badge number, and his name.. which he then refused to give us... so i called 911 and asked them to put me thru to the night supervisor..
they showed up, after i explained the story, and let me go, w/ a promise that this issue would be resolved.
basically the same officer had problems in the past w/ ethnic people, and had numerous complaints under his belt...
i believe he got fired.
now i didnt file a complaint, i just wanted an apology... but hey... i dont feel too bad.
