Coil over vs lowering springs

Coil over vs lowering springs
Hi guys,
I'm pricing out new rims and was wondering which option you prefer (thinking R8 replicas-19s.) A. $600 for 1.7in drop (tein springs) or B. 2K coil over kit (STaSIS)?
What makes the coil over kit so much better?
Is it a complete suspension tune-up? I'm sure it will last longer than springs.
I'm new to coil overs and don't want to spend 2K just to lower the car.
Any insights/suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: Coil over vs lowering springs
u will end up blowing the shocks on the lowering springs if there on there for too long. you could change out your shocks for better 1's but that might end up costing close to the coil over set up and still not be as good.

Re: Coil over vs lowering springs
(wrong forum btw — sorry about that!)
Yeah, I'm not going to consider the lowering springs.
Another question: how big of a drop difference is the sport package when compared to stock a4?
I might get my hands on sport package springs, and the ad states they are 1.5 in lower than stock. Is that true?

Re: Coil over vs lowering springs
i was thinking 1 inch but 1.5 seems like its right too. dont go too low with your car i mean if u like your wheels . and if u have never droped a car before you will have to relearn to drive.

Thanks for that pointer.
1.7 is just about right.
If its 1.5 or lower it's not bad either.
How can I tell if my car has already got the sport package?

Re: Coil over vs lowering springs
u will have the 5 spoke wheels and it wont look like a suv . i only had the wheels and i used drop springs they were nice and i didnt blow a shock but i only had them for like 1 year. u should have 1.5 -2 inches above the wheel if u have the sports package.
