Default Audi Care worth the cost?

Hi guys,

I am buying an '07 A4 Avant and have the option to purchase the Audi Care package for $850 plus tax. This basically gives me free maintenance service for the 85k, 100k & 115k scheduled maintenance service appointments. I'm told that by buying this up front this can save me up to 40% vs. paying as you go.

Any comments? Is this really a money saver?

Thanks!

Here's a link to the maintenance schedules:

http://www.bentleypublishers.com/ima....2007.main.pdf

Looks like the 115K could be expensive, if the timing belt needs to be done (I guess it depends on what engine you have).

Hard to say what to do... I think if it was me, I'd look at it as $850 well spent.

Hope that helps!

$850 ... Only if timming belt included! It MUST be replaced before 115,000Km.
Otherwise keep your AUDI out of the dealers' repair shops: read threads about shops to be avoided.

I checked my manual and it says that the timing belt for the 2.0T is to be replaced at the 115K service.

However the dealer is telling me that Audi issued an update to say that it is only to be inspected and replaced only if worn.

Not seeing the value here now!

Whatever you decide... my input is that my experience with Owasco in Whitby was that on the last year of the warranty on my car they have deliberately and systematicaly set out to sabotage my car and inflicted more than $8,000 worth of "pain" upon me... fool me once...

Enjoy your new AUDI: it is a wonder of engineering! But do find an independent shop, not necessarily the cheapest, to keep it good for years!

And one more thing: do not let them tell you that the timming belt is imortal; the wisdom here is that you get that replaced at 80,000 or a little later if you don't drive hard. 115,000Kms is already in the danger zone!

the 1.8T and the 2.0T design was far different. The 2.0T timing belt pulley is oblong, thus during the power stroke, it takes the load off of the belt. The 2.0T timing belt design lasts far longer....

How much longer?
With all due respect, VLIOU: will you take the risk and chance it on the words of a simpleton at the dealership who is trained to squeeze you for cash?!
Read the post around here: people who have trusted the "dealer" to only spend thousands fixind cars due to the incompetence of the said "dealer"... me included!

Wow!

You did get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!

For a person who's had his seat re-upholstered a number of times for "not being just so", I am not surprised by your tirade.

You have your opinion and I will keep mine, but I did not understand why throw in the “gun to the head” and “racist” thing.

Now the “whining” remark is just as uncalled for as my “seat” remark: now we are Even-Steven!
