Any inherent commonalities with these cars? Odd inherent tweaks or what not? Longer warm up times? I plan on using 94 octane and possibly programmer down the road to open the 3.0 up a little, have Ny recommendation for programmers?
Keep on top of tranny fluid changes if you are planning to keep the car!

Good man...the motor will thank you every 6-7K .

Because Audi has never really made a top-rated supercharger, keep an eye on the belt as the KMs pile on. Try and avoid driving it hard right away...thorough warm up in the colder weather. Of course, keep on top of your regular maintenance schedule and you should be okay.

Another point is the HPFP and senors are sensitive...if you notice excessive fuel consumption, get the issues addressed right away...if not you will start to build up carbon. I've always been a fan of Shell 91 but to each his own .

APR has a good package...but heads up, once you're on the mod road, its hard to stop lol!

Hey ggronfors,

Whats the mileage on your S4? Any CELs? Do you feel the vibration in every gear?

Unfortunately I do not know any shops out that way other than dealers. I know its a bit of a drive to us but if you'd like...give us a shout and we can take a look no charge/obligation

I currently have a Mercedes S55 AMG and I'm considering going to an Audi A8l. I've been looking at the 2007 model as being realistic in price and new enough for me. Does the '07 engine have a chain for the cams or is it still the old rubber belt system? What should I be looking for when testing or examining the vehicle? what is a realistic price to pay for a Pre Purchase Inspection.?

I'd certainly appreciate responses to these questions.

Is there a way to reset the computer for oil change intervals.? Does Audi set it at 25k intervals?

Hey there,

After 2005, the moved to a chain system. As such, they don't need replacement until the cams detect deviation or play. Best way to maintain them is to keep on top of your oil changes and use a good quality syn oil.

For the A8, there are a couple things you want to keep your eye on. Aside from the usual (condition of body, interior), you will want to ensure the calipers are in good condition...the A8 uses an electronic parking brake that if not used can seize. When doing your PPI, make sure every module is functioning (sunroof, heated mirrors, air suspension etc). There are a lot of little convenience options that get used/abused and replacement can be costly. If possible, get the service records to find out if maintenance and oil changes were done.

PPIs are usually about 1.5hrs so depending on where you take the car...for instance, we would charge 125$ as a reference.

Audi set the oil change intervals to 15K. If you are handy with VAGCOM, you are able to adjust them down to about half that.

All gears and while the clutch is disengaged. Could it be motor mounts?

No not at 26K, the next 15K service interval on the MMI says to be done around 36K or 37K. I was thinking I should do one at about 29K or 30K with Motul or Liqui-Moly to see if it makes any difference before the pre-purchased 15K service from Audi Care. In the meantime, I'm down about 2 steps on the MMI oil indicator (w/ ~2400km so far) and I was going to wait until it gets to the halfway point to add half a litre. Or maybe let it go until the MMI display shows 0 but before the "add oil" warning light chimes.

Well theres no set figure but as a rule of thumb on a -20 day, you would want to wait at least 8-10min. Everyone has their own opinion (especially on not wasting gas at idle) but on very cold days, you want to let the motor warm up to operating temps; as well as letting the motor heat warm up the steering/transmission/suspension components. We've had good luck with the Motul and Liqui-Moly a close second...unfortunately none of the 1L bottles in stock as of today but will get more next week.

Of course, come by if you get stuck...just give us a heads up!
8-10min? Wow, that is far longer than I would've ever guessed!
