I just changed my oil, A3 2.0T, 2008 (Cartridge filter on bottom of engine) and also replaced the battery.
1. I reset the oil change interval to zero by pulling and holding the ***** on the instrument cluster, however the service due message still comes on every time the car is started. How do you get rid of the service due message without a scan tool?
2. After changing out the battery, I got a warning message, ESP failure. This disappeared after the first time the car was driven and has not returned. Should I be concerned or is this normal?
TKU in advance.

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
To preface the discussion on the trans, it must be stated Audi has no recommended interval for renewing the trans fluid. Audi considers the trans as a sealed unit with a 'lifetime' fluid and does not require a replacement except on a complete teardown/rebuild. However, a rule of thumb interval for trans fluid replacement is every ~50K. The fluid renewal should be accompanied with an inspection via dropping the trans pan, replacing the filter and pan gasket.
Your trans is made by ZF and it is highly recommended to stick the with ZF Lifeguard fluid. A caveat to the above is if you have never changed the fluid and the car is high mileage (over ~100K), renewing the fluid at this time may actually do more harm than good. At 275K, we would not change the fluid. You may end up needing a new trans.

2. If the ESP/ABS lights disappear after a drive, this is normal. The system needs to readapt itself.

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
Wow, thanks for all the advice! In my 2005 TT 225, to get a digital coolant temp reading on the climate system I press the recirculate button at the same time as the up-arrow, scale up to code 49, then press the recirc button again, and it shows the coolant temp.
So my question is, Is there a list of what the other codes do?
Thanks and
Happy Holidays

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
I bought an Audi. I have a Honda. I notice the exhaust pipe inside difference.
Audi is black, like printer toner, Honda is clean metal.
I checked visually other Audis in parking lots, they are all toner - black.
Is this an issue?
Thx.

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
However, some questions:
Do you notice excessive blue/black smoke upon start up? Especially on cold starts?
Have you monitored your oil consumption?
